Iittala is a long-established design company that started out as a small glass factory in Finland.

We offer tableware and interior goods based on the theme of "modern Nordic design."

For Minagawa, Finland is a place of memories, as it was the first time he visited there when he was 19 years old.
They were so fascinated by the country that they were able to come into contact with traditional design and culture and even used Finnish in their brand name.

Iittala and Mina Perhonen, two of the most representative brands in the Finnish design scene, have started a collaboration on tableware.

The first installment, announced in the summer of 2020, The collection features mugs, bowls, and plates with an original design by Minagawa titled "bird."

The second wave of products was a set of two small plates with the same design.

A simple parent and child bird drawn in soft colors.

An everyday scene naturally comes to mind: children sitting around the dinner table discussing which bird they think they are.

Minagawa sees the birds, each with their own unique color and shape, as having their own personality, and says, "I hope everyone can find their own bird in this collection."

The TEEMA tableware used in the collaborative collection is a masterpiece by Iittala, free of unnecessary decoration and focused on simplicity and functionality.

This also expresses Iittala's brand concept of "overturning the trend of disposable products and creating designs and functionality that can be used for a long time."

The idea of "continuing to use it for a long time" is very similar to the philosophy that Mina Perhonen holds dear.

The third installment will be released in fall 2023.

" "forest life" bowl Quote: iittala.jp

This latest release features a different pattern than last time, with a new design called "forest life" created specifically for the collaboration with Iittala.

It is said to be a picture diary-like depiction of the life and scenery of someone who loves the forest.

The deep blue color is reminiscent of Finland, and the designs feature creatures and plants inspired by nature.
The Mina Perhonen illustrations stand out beautifully against Teema's white base, which is designed to be simple.

The two brands were attracted to each other, which is why this collaboration came to fruition.
I can understand why people are looking forward to further updates in the future.

KLIPPAN has an extraordinary commitment to materials.

Recently, from the perspective of animal welfare, we have been developing blankets that use eco-lamb wool.

They began this project with the desire to have people wear familiar clothes for a long time, and because they respect each other's work, they decided to work on a project together with Mina Perhonen.

Rather than replacing clothes as soon as they are no longer worn, the ideal that Noguchi and Mina Perhonen aspire to is to care for important items for a long time.

Hikaru Noguchi's collection is expressed in Mina Perhonen's color scheme, and you can feel the warmth of the 100% wool material.

This is a perfect gift for the holiday season.

Tapa Note

" tapa note -carnival- '' Quote: mina-perhonen.jp

Tapa note is a notebook that resembles a leather-bound book, made with cobalt paper, which is similar to leather, and features the textile "Carnival" embossed on it.

"Tapa" means "habit" in Finnish.

Cobalt is a material that will conform to the characteristics of your hand as you use it, and you can enjoy the changes that occur over time, just like leather.

Another characteristic of this material is its unique sweet scent.

Why not enjoy the passage of time with the cover of "Carnival," which depicts forest birds holding a festival?

Colored pencil

“Faber-Castell” quote: mina-perhonen.jp

In an age where everything can be done digitally, Minagawa cites Faber-Castell colored pencils as one of his essential items.

Faber-Castell is a long-established German writing instrument brand that offers a wide range of colored pencils, from those for children to those for artists.

From these colored pencils, colors that evoke Mina Perhonen's textiles were selected and sold in three sets of six.

"Oasis" is based on blue, "Symphony" is reminiscent of forests and light with its smoky colors, and "Surplus" is a condensed version of lively and fun colors.

The colors are not simple like blue or red, but have beautiful, intangible names like "ripples" and "heartbeat."

These are colored pencils that will inspire your creativity and that you'll want to use forever.

brooch

"anone-anone brooch - embroidery type" Quote: mina-perhonen.jp

A common item seen at Mina Perhonen is embroidered brooches that look like a part of a textile cut out.

The simplicity of the background canvas makes the handwork shown in the intricate threads stand out even more.

Many embroidered brooches are handmade using interior fabrics, and it is now extremely difficult to find genuine products online.

However, Mina Perhonen is a rare brand that officially authorizes the sale of works by ordinary creators using its fabrics. (Reference: mina-perhonen.jp )

One of the charms of Mina Perhonen is that it allows you to enjoy it freely within reasonable limits.

There are also many brass types available.

"mingling brooch TSUZUKU" Quote: mina-perhonen.jp

They all have a glossy surface and appeal to the child in you, making you want to collect different colors of the same motif.

In addition to colorful ones, heavy brooches painted in gold or silver are also popular.

The tambourine motif is immediately recognizable to fans, but it is not too bold and can easily be coordinated with formal outfits.

It also makes a great, easy gift to give.

Additionally, a brooch made from buffalo horn has been reissued from time to time since its first appearance 20 years ago.

"Clover Brooch" Quote: mina-perhonen.jp

It is a beautiful design with familiar birds and clovers cut out within a round silhouette.

Because they are made from natural materials, each one has its own unique color and pattern, so it will be fun to find your favorite one.

"anone-anone brooch - buffalo type" Quote: mina-perhonen.jp

There are also types made from buffalo horns that are broken into small pieces and put together like a puzzle to create the shapes of animals or flowers.

It is amazing to see the idea of "not wasting materials" expressed even in this way.

There is a certain elegance to the cute form.

×iittala

" Glass Bird" Quote: mina-perhonen.jp

Iittala, who we mentioned earlier in their collaboration on tableware, has also produced other collaborative works besides tableware.

"Glass Bird" is a bird object that received a great response as part of a collaborative collection launched in 2020.

The following year, new colors were added, making a total of six colors available.

The product page states, "These colors were created with the image of our lives being accompanied by light, and were chosen to resonate and resonate with each other when lined up together."

furniture

Original fabric "dop"

-dop- tambourine fabric source: iess.co.jp

First of all, Mina Perhonen does not manufacture or sell furniture.

The chairs and sofas that you occasionally see are made by furniture manufacturers or individuals using Mina Perhonen's interior fabrics.

Here we will introduce the fabric "dop".

The name "dop" comes from the Italian word "doppio" meaning "double," and its origin lies in the characteristics of this fabric.

The front and back are woven from different colored moleskin (a fabric that feels like mole fur), and with use, the surface fabric wears away due to friction, revealing the color of the back fabric.

This is an excellent product that takes advantage of the deterioration of fabric caused by friction and is only available from Mina Perhonen.

It has a soft texture and thick, durable fabric, and is a favorite of many furniture manufacturers.
